The Q&A Archives: Tulips

Question: What is the best way to store the Tulip bulbs now. How and when do I replant them to grow.

Answer: Christine,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

Tulips are typically purchased in fall, stored in the refrigerator for a month or two and then removed for planting in late December. If you have some bulbs you can try planting them now but it is most likely that they won't be able to develop roots and grow in time to have a good bloom period before warming conditions shut them down.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
