There are several ways to protect plantings from rabbits including fencing, rabbit guards, and repellents. For a vegetable or flower garden, wire mesh fencing will do the job, it needs to be several feet tall and also needs to go underground about a foot deep around the garden perimeter to deter tunneling. For trees, a cylinder of wire mesh around the trunk (reaching about 18 inches above the snow line) and extending outward along the ground and topped with gravel will usually prevent them from chewing the bark during the winter. As far as repellents go, there are several different brands of spray on the market. For best results you need to apply (and reapply) per the label directions. You may also find that rotating between the different products is helpful. I hope this helps. |
