We live in Georgia. Our front yard has a gradual slope and can be very difficult, even dangerous, to mow. I would like to plant a mixture of low growing peppermint for greenery, and wild flowers for color on the bulk of the hill, so that we only have to mow the top, level portion. The hill is fully covered by grass with no erosion and in full sun. Is this a good way to go or is there something better? I also don?t want to encourage dogs, snakes, etc., to ?set up camp?, will the peppermint help? Thanks a heap. t.

Trey,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

The peppermint is aggressive and will be fine if you keep the area moist. In dry conditions it won't look good at all. I might also consider other options such as a short growing ornamental grass if you don't feel that creates too much of a jungle for things to hide in.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
