The Purple Martin Conservation Association recommends a height of 12 to 20 feet. They offer detailed information on where it is best to put the martin house, too. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.

The Cornell University Lab of Ornithology Birdhoude Network recommends 10 to 15
feet.

There are many requirements for siting the house for it to be attractive to these wonderful birds. Good luck with your project!
