I have a 50+year old well established SC yard with hardwood trees yielding in the summer approx. 70% of the day with shade. I need to replace/augment the failing St. Augustine with an alternative |
I'd overseed with perennial ryegrass. It is more tolerant of shade than your St. Augustine and will tolerate foot traffic without problem. You'll want to rake the area well to remove debris (dead grass) and scratch up the soil surface. Broadcast your grass seed and then water well and often enough to keep the seeds from drying out. They should germinate in 7-10 days. Best wishes with your lawn! |
