The Q&A Archives: river birch trees

Question: I just planted some river birch trees. They have too many limbs. When do I prune them?

Answer: You can prune your river birches back now; be careful not to remove more than about one-third of the live growth so you don't send your trees into shock.

Best wishes with your landscape!
