| The answer to your question really depends on what plants you are starting and whether you are planting or starting them inside or outside. Most seed packets will provide specific instructions. If not, you might try researching the individual plants to see what their germination requirements are -- some may need a chilling period before they will germinate, for example, or some may need a very warm soil temperature. If you are starting seeds inside, be prepared to grow them under lights and then harden them off in a coldframe to acclimate them to the weather when it is finally safe to transplant them outside. Otherwise, as a rule of thumb, you could probably plant them outside in a prepared seed bed around your last frost date.
