Azaleas - Knowledgebase Question

I just brought an Azalea X Red Ruffles(Rutherford) and I would like to know.Do I have to plant it in the ground?I have a large pot I would love to repot it in.

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

If the pot is very large, say 5-10 gallons in size that variety could be container grown. Red Ruffles has a low-growing, spreading habit reaching 2?-3? tall. The larger the container the less prone it would be to drying out rapidly making care much easier and success less risky.
