Sylvia,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

That is a tough order to fill. Azaleas do provide spring color but are difficult to grow in your high pH soils and insist on a bright shady location. Texas Mtn. Laurel has spring blooms and loves lots of sun. Crimson Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus) blooms off and on through the summer. Oleander although poisonous has summer blooms.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
