I would like some evergreens that also provide some color in the spring and summer- which are the best evergreens that provide color and are heat tolerate for San Antonio, Texas? |
Sylvia, I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you. That is a tough order to fill. Azaleas do provide spring color but are difficult to grow in your high pH soils and insist on a bright shady location. Texas Mtn. Laurel has spring blooms and loves lots of sun. Crimson Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus) blooms off and on through the summer. Oleander although poisonous has summer blooms. Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon! |
