We have just finished building a house and wanted to plant Camellias and Gardenias all the way around it. ( it is a concreat house, with brick around it). How big and strong is the root system of these plants? Will it damage the brick of foundation of our house? Thank you.

Julia,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

Those plants won't be a threat to your foundation. However, I suggest for the plants sake and for maintenance of the plants that you not plant them closer than about 5 feet from the home.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening year in 2007. Please stop in again soon!
