The Q&A Archives: Trimming Plants

Question: My rhododendruns and forsythias are overgrown, can I trim them now without damaging the plants or do I have to wait for them to bud?

Answer: You can trim them now, but you will remove flowering wood and have fewer blooms this spring if you do. For maximum flowering, wait and prune right after the flowers fade.
