In my side and back yards, I have not encouraged lawn growth, but as a consequence moss has been taking over these areas. What are the pro's and con's of allowing this to happen? Thanks.

Some people actually try to grow a moss lawn, it is quite beautiful. A moss lawn is far less work than a grass lawn -- no mowing, no fertilizing, no herbicides, no liming, etc. The only negative I can think of is that moss does not handle foot traffic the way a regular lawn can, but you can add a little path or walkway if you need to. It is up to you as far as what you would prefer. My personal preference would be for moss!
