Christina,

Either type is fine and has its advantages and disadvantages. The sprinkler wets foliage and if used a lot will leave white deposits on the leaves and may promote more disease problems. Soaker hose will need to be run much longer to adequately wet the soil and will need to be bought in significant quality to be spaced about a 18 inches apart to wet the soil fairly thoroughly.
