Hi I have a big backyard full of tress and I really don't know how to dress it up it is too green and I want to add some or more color to it. I live in a humid climate and hot during the summer how can I go about planting flowers. Thankyou, Michelle |
Michelle, Your question is rather general so it is difficult to be specific but here are some ideas. In hot climates use foliage color as this is colorful longer than most plants blooming seasons. In shade use white such as with caladiums and Aztec grass (similar to liriope), as well as Persian shield, and Iresene. In sun try yellow/green striped cannas or the brightly colored variety 'Tropicana'. Also consider burgundy foliaged types of celosia. For blooms in sun try various types of salvia, lantana, bulbine, perennial hibiscus, and yellow bells (Tecoma stans). Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
