Since I'm not sure what kind of begonias you wish to grow, I'll give recommendations for the most common types. Wax begonias should be sowed 12 weeks before planting outside after the last frost date, and tuberous begonias are best sowed 12-16 weeks prior to outside planting date. Sprinkle seeds on the surface of the growing medium and do not cover them. Keep the seeds at about 70-75 degrees F until they germinate in about 15-20 days.

Begonias are fussy about the soil being well-drained, but wax begonias will tolerate the soil drying out between waterings and tuberous begonias like it constantly moist. Some hybrid begonias can stand full sun, but most prefer partial shade.
