I have a large patio with a stone planter that borders half of it. I plant cana lily plants in each corner and in the middle. These beautiful plants provide broad leafy color and I love them. The question I have is what is a good tropical or colorful plant I can plant between the cana lily? I tried gladiolas last year but the just got to tall and fell over and didn't provide the fill in width I desired. Any suggustions that would work well with the cana lily? Thank you.

For a lush, tropical look, how about planting coleus? These annual plants grow wonderfully well in the shade and if you pinch them back when they're young, they'll branch out and develop lots of colorful leaves.

Enjoy!
