I live in a apartment so I have to rely on planters. What can I use to keep squirrels out of it? Also what is the best soil and potting mix I can use?

Any commercially prepared potting soil would work well in your containers (Scott's, Miracle-Gro, etc.) You can generally find smaller bags - which makes them easy to carry and to handle. I'd think any of the commercially available repellents such as Ropel and Hinder may be worth a try to stop squirrels from visiting. Let's hope so!
