| There are several ways to do this. One is to take a safety razor blade or very sharp knife and slice a very tiny bit off the hard outer shell of the seed, but do not pierce the seed. Another way is to rough up the outside of the seed using sandpaper. The goal is to make a few imperfections in the seed coat so moisture can penetrate more easily. Another method is to just soak the seeds for 24 to 48 hours in room temperature water until they begin to swell. As soon as they begin to swell you should plant them. I do that because I am afraid I will cut myself if I try to nick them. I hope this helps. |
