Can you make your own planters? I was told so but what kind of wood would you use?

You can build your own planter boxes without too much trouble. Use redwood or cedar. Both hold up well to sunshine and moisture. You can often find plans for building planter boxes in landscaping books (from the library) or on the internet. You may even be able to find free plans at your local Home Depot.

Best wishes with your project!
