| My 10 year old daughter started soup bean from a school project and the are growing rather larger and we would like informantion on what to do with them and how they produce. Her teacher had no information . She just wanted to show the children how they would grow. If you could give up some background to share with her class we would be very happy . |
| Dry-shelling type beans come in many different sizes and colors. The plants grow like bush beans and require full sunshine in the summertime. It's too early in the year for you to plant your seedling outdoors, so try to keep it happy for another six weeks or so. When the weather warms you can try transplanting it into a sunny spot in your garden. Beans don't like to have their roots disturbed, so transplant late in the day and water well after carefully placing the plant and as much of the rootball and potting soil as possible into the planting hole. With any luck at all your plant will flower and the flowers will produce long pods. When the pods begin to dry up late in the summer, harvest by removing from the bush and opening the pod. Inside youshould find some nice beans to add to your soup pot. |
