I have heard that planting certain grasses in a garden will replenish the soil. Because of multiple deaths in the family, I am unable to maintain my garden this season and would like to put a grass in the boxes to cut out the weeds and nourish the soil. Any suggestions? |
Wendy, Summer grazers type grasses such as Sudex are a good choice. In winter Cereal Rye (or ryegrass as a second choice) is a good option. Also during the summer a cover patch of blackeye peas will help add nitrogen to the soil. Covering the area with a thick mulch of leaves is yet another good option for a fallow period. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
