I moved to tampa about a year ago to a yard with sand so deep & dry that it won't even grow weeds. I was able to get grass to sprout, but you could't water it enough to keep it alive. I put sod down, but the same thing. Between the drought & the water restrictions nothing can live. Is there something that I can mix into the sand that will help it retain moisture? |
Mark, Compost is probably the only practical option for increasing the water holding capacity of the turf area. I suggest adding a few inches and mixing it in as deeply as a rototiller will go. If you can bring in some soil with a more loamy texture that would also be very helpful. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
