The Q&A Archives: Green Lawn

Question: How do I get rid of crabgrass? How can I get my grass healthy and green? Ihave already got rid of the weeds (clovers). Now I can't get rid of the crabgrass.

Answer: Allen,

Hand pulling is the best option for small crabgrass infestations since once it is up there is nothing to kill it that won't also kill your turfgrass. Building your lawn denser over time by frequent mowing, moderate fertilizing and weekly watering is the best way to choke out most of the crabgrass in a season or two. Crabgrass can be prevented by applying a pre-emergent grass control product in early to mid February.
