I planted a Bird of Paradise in the ground last spring my pet destroyed the leaves. It had one flower he also destroyed that. It came in a 12

I would continue to care for the plant, just as if it were performing well. There's no guarantee it will resprout, but you won't know unless you wait. Plants need their leaves to produce energy for the roots. Just how much stored energy your Bird of Paradise might have is anyone's guess. So, for the time being, continue to keep the plant well watered. With any luck at all it will send out new sprouts.
