Can I grow a Pink Lady apple tree in my area? |
This apple is only considered winter hardy into zone 5. It has a very long ripening season, about 200 days. Your zip code places you in zone 5A or the coldest part of zone 5. If you garden in an exposed, open and windy location it may actually be as cold as zone 4. The borderline hardiness along with the very, very long ripening time lead me to suggest it might not do very well for you. Your local county extension should be able to suggest apple varieties that are especially well suited for your local area. I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging about this one. |
