Hi, I have a new construction home. The front yard was sodded with centipede sod. The sides of the home and the back was not sodded. What do I need to do to sod the areas that are not sodded. Can I weed and seed the areas. In addition, how often should I water the lawn because now the grass looks brownish. What do you recommend? I plan on going to homedepot this weekend to buy supplies and hoses and sprinklers. The lot size is 70*150. Thank You

Huey,

You should remove any weeds in the unsodded areas and rototill the soil lightly. Then you can either plant centipede from seed or sod. Centipede doesn't like to be fertilized much so only put 1/2 pound of actual nitrogen per 1000 square feet. This would be for example about 3 pounds of 15-5-10 or similar product. Avoid using broadleaf weed control products when temperatures are in the 80's and above as they can stress the centipede turf.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
