I just had my bradford pear tree split today during a storm, what should i use on the tree in order to save it from insects/termites invading it? |
Terry, If the limb is salvageable pull it back into place and put a bolt through the tree with washers on each side. If not then remove it with a saw and let the area heal on its own. Treating the wound is generally not necessary but if you like some pruning paint can be put over the exposed wood areas. It will take many years for it to heal over but with adequate general tree care it should be fine. Bradford pears can be prone to this as they get older so you might want to consider replacing it with a new tree if it is aesthetically unacceptable now. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
