panting new tree - Knowledgebase Question

I am going to be removing a pecan tree that is about 25 years old and plan on replacing it with an oak tree. Is there any thing special I need to take into consideration? (soil/roots)

Jesus,

Not really. Don't put the new tree in the exact same spot as there will be lots of roots in they way. Choose a species that meets your own needs and interests, which will live a long time. Your County Extension Office has suggestions for such trees. The following web site is very helpful:
