I would like to send someone living in Arizona something for their garden. What plants will survive in that hot climate? Can you suggest something?

Many plants do well in Arizona, but to narrow it down I need to know what part of Arizona. Our elevation varies from low, mid and high desert, up to 7000+ feet mountains with winter snow and cold, with different plants thriving in each area. Please send another email to the Q&A site with the location and general type of plant (tree, shrub, perennial, bulbs, wildflowers, and so on) you'd like to send. If you try to reply to this response, it doesn't go anywhere. Thanks!
