I have always wanted tulips in my yard, and I have noticed that they are now in pots at the local store. Should I buy about 2 dozen now and gone ahead and plant them (I figure that at least I will have them already planted and they will bloom next year) OR should I just pay attention and buy the bulbs in the fall?
Also, I have recently purchased several iris bulbs, are they summer or spring-bloomimg plants?
SHould I go ahead and plant them

I'd wait and buy healthy new bulbs in the fall (mark your calendar; they're generally available in September and October. Plant them in the fall and the following spring they'll reward you with beautiful flowers. As for iris, buy them now and plant them. These normally bloom in late spring or early summer, after the tulips have finished blooming.

Best wishes with your flower garden!
