I am wanting to build a raised bed along a wooden fence. The problem is I am not sure how to properly protect the fence from the soil. I am wanting to do a garden wall type wall block two or three blocks high and don't know how to create a barrier on the back side. I do not want to use that much extra decorative block that would not be visible. Any suggestions?

thank you
Tom

If you plan to grow flowers in your new bed, you can line the back side of it with roofing felt (you'll find rolls of it in the roofing department of your local Home Depot). If the bed is for vegetables, you may want to use concrete blocks instead of roofing felt - just in case some chemicals from the felt leach into the soil.

Best wishes with your raised bed!
