This shrub, Hibiscus syriacus, blooms on the new growth of the season so you should still have flowers later this summer. It should regrow in size fairly quickly due to the already established root system. Some gardeners prune these shrubs back very hard every year in late winter/early spring, while others remove only dead or damaged branches as they occur. The natural shape is nice and regular, almost symmetrical, but they can grow quite large. How much you prune these is a matter of personal preference.
