Last year my corn grew relatively well with nice green foliage and reasonable number of ears, but the corn was very tough and "mealie." Any suggestions?

There are two possible reasons for your experience: First, the corn may have been overmature when you harvested it. Or, you might have planted "field" corn, which is generally grown for processing rather than for fresh eating. Why not try Supersweet Hybrid (Sh2) or Silver Queen this year? They both make great eating!
