I want to start herbs from seed. When should I start them so they'll be ready to move outside at the correct time?

Herb seeds have different germination and growth rates. Basil should be started 3 weeks before your last frost date, Oregano and Marjoram about 6 weeks, Parsley about 10 weeks. Parsley can go into the ground 3 weeks before your last frost date, so start those seeds first. The rest take a week to 10 days to germinate and will appreciate warmer spring weather and soil temperatures before they're set outside.
