Is 10-10-10 ever used for existing lawns. I have a friend in the area this is all he uses. I usually use Scott.s.

Certainly you can use it, read and follow the directions on the label. You might also want to run some basic soil tests to see which nutrients are actually needed and in what proportion to help you determine the optimum fertilization program for your specific lawn. Your state extension service can help you with the testing and interpreting the results. Here is their lawn and garden information site with information about soil testing.
