Because of the recent cold, snowy weather we have experienced here in eastern PA. are we going to enjoy blooms on our lilac bushes, tulips and hyacinths this year? The lilacs were just beginning to produce small bud-like formations and the tulips and hyacinths leaves were up 6-8 inches before the cold weather hit them again.

This will depend whether or not the flower buds were damaged. You can look at them closely and try to see if the buds are still tight and plump and firm or if they have browned or dried out. The bulb foliage may look scorched at the tips, but if the buds were still protected by it then they may be fine. If you aren't sure, your local county extension should be able to tell you what the general prognosis for your neighborhood is.
