Do you have a simple chart or can you refer me to one which sets forth the ph and fertilizer requirements for most common vegetables.

There's a great chart in the following book: All About Fertilizers, Soils & Water, published by Ortho Books. ISBN#0-917102-80-0

Most vegetable crops prefer a soil pH of 6.0 to 7.5. Fertilizer requirements vary, depending upon the crop being grown, but most people side-dress their veggie garden every four weeks during the growing season with an all purpose 8-8-8 or 5-10-10 formulation of fertilizer. You'll find specific information in the above book.
