I plan on selling my home next spring and would like to plant a fast growing tree/shrub at the back of my yard to hide the neighbor's pool. Can you recommend any shrubs or trees? Thanks.

Plants generally take a year to settle in, become rooted and begin to grow so you may want to consider buying fairly large sized plants. If you simply want a fast growing evergreen you might try Leyland cypress. If you want a deciduous plant, forsythia and privet grow very fast and can reach a large size. Whether or not this would hide the pool in one season is not too likely though. I wish I could be more encouraging.
