Looking for shrubs that flower that can live in the shade for zone 5A. Many thanks, Ann

For bright dappled light or with some direct morning sun, you could grow the white flowered Hydrangea arborescens such as "Annabelle." In a shady to partly shaded area you could also grow Fothergilla, Itea, and Calycanthus and although not a flowering shrub, the variegated forms of shrub dogwood can be very colorful in a shady bed. I hope this gives you some ideas.
