Hi there all who see this ! My wife and I planted a Tropical Hibiscus last summer and it did great. Then for winter we left it outside covered with a cedar box. As we took the box off, the leaves that were left on it were dark brown and now it seem's we have mudered it .I can see no new growth yet and the branches are brittle. Please let me know what I should do now ? Thank you for your help in this matter |
Even with the winter protection you provided, tropical hibiscus simply won't survive winters in Illinois. They are such beautiful plants that I'd recommend replacing your hibiscus - but this time plant it in a container so you can enjoy it outdoors all summer and then take it indoors over the winter months. These are vigorous plants under the right growing conditions so you can prune it back to a manageable size prior to taking it indoors and it will reward you with lots of new growth and flowers, too. In the spring, after the weather warms, you can take your plant back outdoors. |
