Can I safely add Black Walnut twigs to my compost pile? Something in the roots is a herbicide, are the branches going to spoil my compost?

To be on the safe side, don't compost walnut tree leaves or twigs in great volume. A few won't ruin your compost pile, but composting large amounts could spread the juglone (growth inhibiting chemical) to the rest of your yard.

Best wishes with your landscape!
