my tree has been hit very hard by the freeze and the trunk is soft and most of the branches are dead. Is there any hope for this tree to come back? What can I do for it?

Many, many ficus trees were destroyed by the frost and most will not recover. If the roots were well established you may see growth at the bottom of the tree, or even some random growth on what appear to be dead branches. I'd wait another month to allow the trees to recover. If you see no new growth by that time, I'm afraid the trees are dead. Wish I had better news for you!
