| I have a large cedar tree in my yard, the lowest branches are too high to even reach. It's always shady at the base of the tree - and I was wondering if I could safely plant some impatiens there? I will not be surrounding the tree, simply adding about 2 inches extra soil to an area about 3x2-1/2 feet. I know some trees change the soil enough so that some plants will not grow under them - will a cedar tree? Would I just be better off potting them and setting them under the tree? Thanks! |
| Juli, I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you. Impatiens should be okay, just don't keep them too wet or the cedar tree can suffer.
