I rent a place on a 40 acre ranch, the place I live at is fenced but horses and cows run loose on the property. I am looking for plants that are non poisonous to animals. But offer plenty of color & easy up keep.

thanks

Some plants that will poison farm animals are:
Tung oil tree, Prickly poppy, Boxwood, Showy crotalaria,Jimsonweed, Purple attlebox, Carolina jasmine, Bagpod,Coffeebean, Bitterweed, Common lantana, Chinaberry, Common
oleander, Pokeweed, Eastern bracken, Oaks, Castor-bean,Elderberry, Graceful nightshade, Carolina laurel-cherry, Johnsongrass, Oriental cocklebur, and Atamasco-lily (Rain lily). If you avoid these plants, there shouldn't be too many concerns. For even more information, check with a local vet. I'm sure they have brochures outlining safe plants.

Best wishes with your new garden.
