What is the difference between determinate and indeterminate tomatoes? |
Determinate tomatoes are those that grow to a certain height and then set blossoms. Usually the fruit ripens at the same time. These are good choices if you want to can or process your tomatoes. Indeterminate tomato plants put on new growth and new blossoms all season long. The tomatoes ripen at different times; good if you like fresh tomatoes all summer long. Burpee's Heat Wave II and Northern Exposure are determinate. Delicious and Big Girl are indeterminate. |
