I have shrubs in front of my house that are old and not flourishing so I would like to replace them. Is the end of April too late to do this, or should I wait until the fall? The front of the house gets morning to early/mid afternoon sun.

If you are planting evergreens, it is better to plant them in the spring. With container grown plants, you can plant in spring or fall. The time to avoid, if you can, is the heat of summer. This spring has been so unusual, it may actually be better to have waited a bit.
