Despite the great care I bestow on my hibiscus bushes, they are getting yellow leaves and black spots again. I put 1500 lady bugs on each bush, but I am still getting aphids again. What am I doing wrong?
PS We are under drought conditions now and must limit our watering.

Janet,

I apologize for this delayed reply to your gardening question and hope it is still helpful to you.

I suggest you try using insecticidal soap on the aphids as it works fast and then dries to not harm beneficial insects. The yellowing leaves are usually due to a soil moisture extreme such as too dry or too soggy wet for too long. Mulching may help hold moisture in the soil and reduce the need for watering a bit.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
