The Q&A Archives: Rose plant

Question: I bought a rose plant and it`s in the big pot. It`s growing but the leaves are not standing erect. and after sometime leaves are getting dried. is it lack of water or lack of sunlight.

Answer: Roses need to have full sun to stay healthy. They also need good air circulation. And, the soil should be evenly moist like a wrung out sponge, not soaking wet and not dried out. Wilting can be due to lack of water (dry soil) or to overwatering which causes root damage and thus limits the amount of water the plant can absorb.

Set the plant outside in a sheltered area with wind protection on days when the temperature is above freezing so it can be in ample sunlight. Bring into a cool but unheated area (above freezing but below 45 degrees) when temperatures drop below freezing. As soon as the weather settles, plant it in the garden.
