| I have had an Amaryllis plant for 4 year but it just will not bloom. How can I get it to bloom. It is planted in a pot indoor. |
| Amaryllis need to grow plenty of healthy foliage in order to build their strength to bloom again. Provide it with ample sunlight and fertilize regularly from late winter/early spring through fall using a water soluble fertilizer such as 10-10-10 plus minors per the label directions. While it is in active growth, keep the soil moist but not saturated/sopping wet. In the fall, stop watering and store the bulb in a cool dark place such as a closet (cool, but above 50 degrees). The bulb will need to be rested this way for about 8 weeks. When the foliage is fully dried up, remove the dead leaves. Then bring it back into the light and water once to restart it into growth. Water lightly until it begins to grow vigorously again. With luck, you will have a flower stalk and the cycle will begin again. |
