| Based on your description I am not certain what is happening to your rhododendrons. It could be caused by winter cold and/or wind damage, or the result of oscillating spring temperatures, or it might be a disease problem. I would suggest you take a photo or two of the overall plant and a closeup of the discolored leaves and consult with a professionally trained nurseryman.
